They come in three shapes, and knowing which is which is the trick — one shape fills a room while people are still eating, another gets everybody out of their chair.

Pass them around — everybody plays at once, at her own pace. Good while the plates are still out.

• Who Knows Her Best? — 20 questions about her. She reads her answers out at the end; a point for each match.
• Most Likely To — 25 of them, a guest’s name beside each. Read the tally out and let everybody defend herself.
• Find The Guest Bingo — a 5×5 card of “find someone who…”. First to five in a row calls it out.
• Birthday Categories — four columns, the letters C-A-K-E. Matching answers cancel each other out.

Read them out — one voice, whole room answers. Good when the table has gone quiet.

• Would She Rather — 20 either-ors. Circle what you think she’d pick; she confirms at the end.
• Ever Or Never — 25 things to own up to. Highest number has the most explaining to do.

Get up and move — phones out, people wandering. Good once the plates are cleared.

• Selfie Scavenger Hunt — 16 selfies to collect before the cake is cut, then sent to the birthday girl the next morning.
