The Homefire Cookie Exchange Party Kit

Description

Everything you need to host it, except the cookies.

For the mom who wants one night in December with her girlfriends, without planning it at midnight.

A cookie exchange is my favorite kind of Christmas party, because nobody has to do all of it. Everybody bakes one kind of cookie, everybody goes home with a box full of a little of everything, and the host gets to sit down with her girlfriends in the middle of December.

The trouble is the little stuff. Who’s bringing what. How many cookies is too many. What to write on the invitation. Whether you need labels (you do, somebody always asks about nuts). This kit takes care of all of it, so the only thing left on your list is your own batch of cookies.

What’s inside

• The Party Plan — a four-week countdown with tick boxes, from picking the date to the thank-you text
• Guest List & Cookie Math — who’s coming, who’s bringing which cookie, and exactly how many each person bakes
• Two fill-in invitations plus four messages ready to text or email: the invitation, the one-week nudge and the day-before reminder
• The Setup & Shopping List — drinks, the cookie table, the packaging station by the door
• Cookie labels with contains-nuts, gluten-free and dairy-free boxes, and recipe cards so the good ones get passed around
• Twelve take-home tags, four signs and a COOKIE SWAP banner
• Cookie Superlatives — a five-minute ballot game (Best in Show, Grandma Would Approve, Gone First…) that gets everybody laughing
• After the Party — the thank-you text and notes for next year

Comes as a printable PDF, a fillable PDF you can type into, and a companion app — one price, all three. The app keeps your guest list on your phone and warns you when two people claim the same cookie, does the cookie math, and fills your party details into the invitation and reminder texts so you can copy and send them. itsasouthernlifeyall.com/app/cookie-exchange (your Start Here download carries the link too).

What changes

Before: you’d love to host one, but between the guest list, the who-brings-what texts and the five plates of chocolate chip, it never gets past the idea.

After: the invitations are out, every cookie is claimed, the labels and tags are printed, and on the night itself you get to enjoy your own party.

Who built it

Hi, I’m Robin. I raised four kids, I’m a grandmother of seven, and I’ve hosted my share of cookie exchanges at my own kitchen table. You can read how I host one on the blog: How to Host a Christmas Cookie Exchange.
