How To Prepare For Amazon Prime Day On Your Blog
I was recently asked what should we, as bloggers, do to prepare for Amazon Prime Day.
Great question, right?!
As I sat back to think of my answer, I realized I’m not properly prepared for Prime Day. But the good news — it’s not too late to get ready!
(This post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean to you? Well, if you click on a product and make a purchase, I may receive some compensation at NO charge to you. If you want to read the boring stuff from my full disclosure can be found here.)
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day started in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary. Since then Prime Day has grown as an annual event with sales exceeding $1 billion last year! It’s easy to see that Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events of the year.
It’s Black Friday in July…for Amazon Prime Members that is.
This year (2019), Amazon Prime Day starts at 3 am EST on July 15 and lasts for 48 hours!
Significance of Prime Day for Bloggers
I’m not a deal blogger or Amazon review blogger. How can Prime Day benefit me?
Well, it can mean an increase in Amazon affiliate income. So to me, that means a lot!
Since Amazon has one of the biggest affiliate programs available, this day can add lost of extra cash for bloggers. Doesn’t Amazon’s willingness to share the love make us all happy?!
How to Prepare for Prime Day
1. If you aren’t an Amazon affiliate sign up now!
The registration process is relatively easy and Prime Day is the perfect time to collect those qualifying purchases.
Tip: Read Amazon’s terms of service before you start promoting. If you find anything unclear, hop on their chat or send an email directly to Amazon for clarification.
2. Start talking about Prime Day Now!
Prime Day has deals for Amazon Prime members only. Are you using Amazon’s bounty program? Now is the perfect time to make money with this program. You make $3 for every person that signs up for the 30-Day Free Trial of Amazon Prime. Your bounty income could add up quickly.
Tip: Be sure to monitor the bounty program as we get closer to Prime Day. Some of the programs will have special pricing during this time.
3. Check your most popular posts.
Wait! Why?
Now is the time to check your most popular posts. Do you have Amazon affiliate links in them? Could you add links to these posts? Are your existing links working properly?
Don’t add a big screen TV to a post on saving money. There is no need for that. But adding a relevant product to a post will do the same job.
You don’t have to advertise the Prime Day specials to make money on Prime Day! You only need to get your readers to click on your links and help drive the traffic to Amazon. Trust me! Amazon will do the rest!
Tip: If you can’t fit a product in the post, don’t forget about the bounty program. Promoting the free trial of Amazon Prime fits nicely into my money saving posts.
4. Write a gift guide or a product roundup post.
Why should I do that?
Well, it’s simple. It’s hard for us to promote all of the deals during Prime Day and many (most) of us aren’t deal bloggers.
Having posts with relevant items that fit our audience is what matters. Once you get a reader to click through, Amazon will do the rest.
If you have never written a gift guide, my friend Tracy has a wonderful course, Gift Guide Creation, to take you through the process step-by-step. Tracy covers everything in this course! Check it out HERE!
Tip: You cannot promote Amazon affiliate links through email but you can promote posts with Amazon affiliate links to your email lists. Gift guides come in very handy during Prime Day.
See one of my gift guides HERE.
Final but most important tip: Please make sure you have the appropriate Amazon Associates disclosure placed on your blog before promoting any product or program from Amazon. If you choose to promote Prime Day on social media, be sure to include #ad or #affiliate in your post.

This is great information. I am not really generating traffic to my blog yet, but hopefully I will be able to utilize this next year.

I was in your position last year. Keep moving forward…the traffic will come.
